Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the city.

Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the central cast to begin their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the group understands precisely where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose death started the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires revenge.
  • Kattigan knows Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
  • The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could assist the party enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This results in them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Seekers and Strategists groups.

Fans can expect learning which adventurers will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
