Automobiles in German City Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Authorities reported they were notified by a man who found a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.

The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Police report early analysis indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the residents for details.

A senior representative stated the incident left him stunned and had to be solved rapidly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a assailant aiming at residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
